Correcting intermittent issues with Industrial switch port on IE1000
Problem:
The customer states that its switchport on the IE1000 will not remain in an up state. They ran the "no shut" command and copied the running configuration to the startup configuration. but the policy is not applied.
Resolution:
Step 1: Asked the customer to verify the physical connection between the switchport and the device. This includes checking that cable is not damaged.
Step 2: the customer should verify the switchport configuration, this can be done by "show running config" command and looking for any error or warnings in the output.
Switch shows configurations, cable and end device are working properly, verified on other ports.
Step 3: If the switchport configuration is correct and the physical connection is verified, then the customer should check for hardware problems. This can be done by inspecting the switch for faulty ports or modules.
If the port is damaged, we offered two solutions to the customer:
1) The port can be replaced, but it is complicated and requires special security equipment and requires advanced skills.
2) The second solution if the port problems prevent you from using the switch properly is to contact Cisco support to purchase a new equipment.
